The amount of sugar consumed annually in the'united States has increased by nearly short tons since 1909. The table on the following page shows the amount of sugar which became avail able for consumption in Continental United States in eaeh year since 1909. The table itself is self explanatory. The actual consump tion would differ from the amount available for consumption chiefly in the difference in stocks at the beginning and end of successive seasons.
