A contemporary of Murray McCheyne, Burn's ministry in Scotland prior to his service in China as a missionary was the instrument of revival in McCheyne's church. The basis of his life and work was God's Word; so much so that he was described by the Chinese as "The Man of the Book". But it was as the mentor and example to Hudson Taylor in the beginnings of his missionary service in China that much interest in his life lies. This brief biography commemorates the centenary of his passing and is a reminder of the standard that could be the goal of every believer."
