The book comprises some of the indigenous technical knowledge practices perceived by pastoralists of hilly regions of J&k state for the treatment of their livestock. Various medicinal plants with other natural ingredientd are used by ITK workers for tratment of various livestock ailments. About hundred ITK practices were documented from the study area . District doda is the place of various rearest herbs of himalyas which are used for the treatment of both humans as well as animals since ages. Documentation and validation of indigenous technical knowledge in Doda district has not so far been done and there is a grave danger of losing this precious knowledge as most of the practices are transferred to new generation by only verbal means. It was therefore imperative to collect and document these practices and to assess their validity so that this knowledge could be made available for use in animal health care. Keeping all this in mind, a study was conducted to document the indigenous technical knowledge practices used for treatment of various livestock ailments.The book comprises some interesing and effective methods of livestock treatment with low cost and with out any side effects.
