Description
Trumpeter Bruce Adams was born in Birkenhead, Cheshire, and started playing the trumpet at the age of 12, performing mainly in the Glasgow area, where his parents had moved. He toured with his father's variety show at the age of 15 (his father a comedian, guitarist and violin player and his mother a dancer) and later won an Opportunity Knocks television talent show. Bruce has since worked with Benny Carter, Elaine Delmar, Bob Wilber's Big Band and guested in the Echoes of Ellington Orchestra. He was also voted No. 1 trumpeter in the British Jazz Awards 2000. 'Good Bait', recorded live at Ronnie Scott's club, May to June 2000, includes compositions by jazz luminaries Horace Silver, Hank Mobley, Tadd Dameron, Clifford Brown and Duke Ellington, among others, all of which illuminate the quartet's straight-ahead style. Recorded 2000 Personnel: Bruce Adams - (trumpet), flugelhorn, Dave Cliff - (guitar), Leon Clayton - (bass), Martin Drew - (drums)
