Career and Calling

Career and Calling

0 - Default Title
Description
This book was developed from the class arguments raised over the issue of career and calling. Many students, including my students in universities where I teach, appear to struggle to find the difference between career and calling. Since 2021, when I first joined the tertiary teaching career, which I later found to be my calling, I have observed the confusion in students, especially when it comes to distinguishing career from calling. Therefore, this book has been developed to clear this confusion. We live in a world where careers are often chosen for their security, prestige, or financial promise, while callings are whispered within, often ignored or misunderstood. Yet throughout history, the most impactful lives have been led by those who dared to follow their inner compass. They were not just professionals-they were visionaries, healers, educators, and reformers. They did not merely earn a living; they gave life to something greater than themselves. The idea for this book was born out of a growing cultural hunger for meaning in work and life. As people question the traditional paradigms of success, many are awakening to the possibility that there is more to their story than their job description. However, confusion often reigns. Is my career my calling? If not, must I abandon one to pursue the other? What if I feel stuck? These are the questions this book seeks to answer.
