Knowledge and Practice on HIV/AIDS among Barbers and Beauticians

0 - Default Title
Description
The human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infects cells of the immune system, destroying or impairing their function. Illnesses associated with Acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) is still one of the leading causes of mortality at an early age around the world. HIV infected individuals also may remain asymptomatic for years. Thus, patients with HIV infection may not be aware of the infection, cause, and transmission of the infection to others. The beauty salons are a crucial place for the non-sexual transmission of blood-borne diseases such as HIV, hepatitis B, and hepatitis C. This book, therefore, provides a recent result of a survey carried out by asking a set of a questionnaire on barbers and beauticians regarding their Knowledge and Practice on HIV/AIDS. The Barbers and Beauticians of age above 19 were taken as the sample population. The analysis should help shed some light on taking care of safety when handling works in beauty salons.
