Excerpt from Clay in Concrete<br/><br/>The investigation described herein was conducted at the Bureau of Standards, Washington, D. C., with the cooperation of Hugh L. Cooper Co. New York, N. Y. An effort was made in this study to determine the value of clay as an admixture in concrete of a type commonly used in construction and was one of several investigations of the same nature sponsored by C01. Hugh L. Cooper. The qualities of concrete which were measured were compressive strength, absorption, resistance to, a freezing and thawing exposure, and permeability to water under pressure.
