Songs of Route 66: Music From The All-American Highway is the ultimate road music. It gathers together eleven songs about the most famous highway in history, resulting in a great collection of Americana music, suitable for travel on any road.
The tracks: the familiar theme from the TV show Route 66 is performed by members and alumni from Asleep at the Wheel as well as members of the Lucky Strikes and The Fat Man.
Route 66: the song that made the road famous done by its author Bobby Troup.
The Mother Road: Alan Rhody performs Route 66's new anthem co-written with Kevin Welch.
What's Left of 66: a traveling troubadour's view of the modern Route 66, performed by Jason Eklund.
Willy Rogers Highway: a Woody Guthrie tune, done here by Dead Reckoning's Kevin Welch.
The Long Red Line: about Route 66 by Mercury recording artist, Mary Cutrufello. This was Mary's first appearance on CD.
Used To Be: performed by Oklahoma's Red Dirt Rangers, who also have their own Lazy S.O.B. release Ranger's Command.
2200 Miles: the only composition written specifically for this project, performed here by Austin's Mad Cat Trio with the help of Asleep at the Wheel's Cindy Cashdollar.
Don't Haul Bricks on 66: a view of Route 66 through the eyes of the 70's counter-culture, done by Arizona's The Dusty Chaps.
Route 66 Revisited: by Bohemia Beat's Jimmy LaFave, is the perfect answer record to Troup's original Route 66.
