Everton versus Liverpool 1986 was the first ever Merseyside Derby in the FA Cup Final. Two seasons before, Liverpool had beaten Everton in the League Cup Final, and only days before, Liverpool had nicked the league from under the noses of the defending champions. Everton were out for revenge but were eventually beaten by their arch rivals with Ian Rush grabbing a brace of goals in a 3-1 victory.
