In the tragic aftermath of Hurricane Katrina's Gulf Coast strike last year, Craig Schumacher from Wavelab was one of the many folks all across the country who was deeply moved by the devastation. Craig had established strong ties to the area's music community over many years and many visits, and had even been organizing the annual Tape Op Conference in New Orleans. Like so many other lovers of the city and the area and the music and the culture, he wanted to do something to help. Meanwhile, Nick Luca (a musician\/producer and Craig's right-hand man at Wavelab) had been bouncing around an idea with Mike Lembo (Funzalo Records label head) for a Christmas compilation. That's when it struck all involved that a Wavelab\/Funzalo compilation CD would be a great way to raise funds for those folks in the Gulf Coast who were directly affected by Katrina.
