This collection seeks to put Bob and his followers into historical perspective. Bob was born in Fort Gibson, Oklahoma, in 1908. As a youngster he heard a Hawaiian troupe and became so besotted with the sound of the steel guitar, he took lessons via a correspondence course. By his late teens he was a professional, playing with western bands. By 1935, Bob was a featured player in the popular Musical Brownies. For radio, an unamplified instrument was fine, but at live shows he was inaudible. The answer was an amplifier, which introduced to country music what, effectively, was a new instrument. He was a leading player until WW2. After the war he scaled back his playing activities. Three of the other artists here can be said to be part of the Dunn tradition, deploying supreme artistry to promote what would become a characteristic feature of country music's instrumentation. The remaining featured player, Jimmy Bryant, was a classy conventional electric guitar player who had the luck to play with ace pedal steel guitarist Speedy West.","brand":"Jsp (H'Art)","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53735127548246,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":false}],"url":"https:\/\/www.momoxbooks.com\/products\/perkins-wizzards-of-country-guitar-0788065714420","provider":"momoxbooks","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
