The purification process consists oftwo main steps: extraction ofurease from the jack bean meal and cooling crystallization, each followed by solid-liquid separation. As separation procedures both centrifugation and filtration were tested for the extraction as weil as for the crystal separation. Furthermore, a set ofexperiments was carried out, where an intermediate precipitation ofproteins from the extract before urease crystallization was performed. As final purification steps recrystallization and crystal washing were carried out.
