The architects in charge of the urban\ndevelopment of this district are Sergei Tchoban and Evgeny Gerasimov.\nKrier designed the façade for a 132-metres long building on\nthe Newa riverbank – one that looks across the water onto the\nrear façade of the Hermitage. The vibrancy of the architecture is\nenhanced by its sculptural ornamentation based on the Balzac\ntheme, 'The Human Comedy'. In this regard, Krier modelled more\nthan 50 figures in white clay, as well as around 65 linear metres of\nreliefs. The short poems that comment on the sculptures also centre\non the theme of mankind and its interrelationships in society.\nBorn and raised in Luxembourg, Krier moved to Vienna after having\nstudied in Munich and worked for Oswald Mathias Ungers and\nFrei Otto. After teaching posts in Stuttgart and Lausanne, he was\na professor at the Technische Universität in Vienna from 1976 to\n1998 and, in 1986, held a guest professorship at Yale University in\nNew Haven, Mass. Krier has developed urban-design concepts for\nStuttgart, Vienna, Berlin, Amiens, Montpellier, Leeds, Gothenburg,\nLodz, Amsterdam, Den Haag and many other cities. Projects with\nwhich he was first able to translate his vision of a spatial concept,\nsuch as Rauchstrasse in Berlin, Breitenfurterstrasse in Vienna or\nRitterstrasse with Schinkelplatz in Berlin, repeatedly found their\nplace in international publications.","brand":"Edition Axel Menges","offers":[{"title":"Used - good","offer_id":53130073375062,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0925\/5829\/5382\/files\/product_image_9783936681666_1.jpg?v=1781241497","url":"https:\/\/www.momoxbooks.com\/products\/krier-rob-rob-krier-figures-9783936681666","provider":"momoxbooks","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
