Richard Krentzlin (1864 - 1956) studierte an Franz Kullaks Neuer Akademie der Tonkunst in Berlin Klavier und Musiktheorie und war lange Jahre dort auch Lehrer. Er gehört zu den bekanntesten Vertretern der traditionellen pädagogischen Schule seiner Zeit. Die berühmte Klavierschule "Der junge Pianist" erschien das erste Mal 1898 (!) und ist bis heute ein Standardwerk der Unterrichtsliteratur.
