{"product_id":"greene-vivien-family-dolls-houses-9780713517750","title":"Family Dolls' Houses","description":"Almost thirty years prior to the 1973 publishing of this title, Vivien Greene (Mrs Graham Greene) appointed herself a one-woman Ancient Buildings record, the buildings being pre-1887 dolls' houses. Since then she has visited over 800 dolls' houses, all of which she personally measured and recorded, adding an inventory of contents where any existed. Here, in 'Family Dolls' Houses' she has chosen thirty-one examples from those 800. With few exceptions, they are all inherited houses, so have not been liable to the fate of those that have been marketed and, too often, stripped of their contents or altered beyond recognition. The majority are in private hands and never previously described or illustrated. The inherited family house almost always shows its original condition, an incomparably precious experience to the viewer. Here, colour of the rooms, the arrangement of furniture, the disposition of the ornaments is not guesswork on the part of the present-day amateur decorator: it is factual and as it was, say, a hundred years ago. The book has five main sections: 18th-century houses, early 19th-century, mid 19th-century, late 19th-century and 'Three Strangers' describing unusual houses of extraordinarily interest. There is a glossary of terms and even a picture quiz enabling the reader to test his or her ability to date a variety of dolls' houses.","brand":"HarperCollins Distribution Services","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53733572936022,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0925\/5829\/5382\/files\/product_image_9780713517750_1.jpg?v=1781780209","url":"https:\/\/www.momoxbooks.com\/products\/greene-vivien-family-dolls-houses-9780713517750","provider":"momoxbooks","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
