Luigi Nono's "Composizione per orchestra" is a kind of "dodecaphony with nine notes," but finally, the music plunges into a whirl of intensity so panicked that the entry of the percussion finale (with the other three tones) is like the cutting of the Gordian knot: release and judgment in one.
Nono's ballet "Der rote Mantel" [first recording with WERGO!] on Federico García Lorca's "erotic hallelujah" is a bizarre kind of chamber play that seeks intensifications of García Lorca's intangible, poetic images. And at the same time it is an homage to Federico García Lorca, who was murdered by the Falangists. A parable of irreconcilability.
