Agroforestry is the new terminology for the age-old tradition of land use system, which has been practiced by domesticating food crops with trees and animals since time immemorial in Nepal.In this study, ArcGIS 9.3, Imagine 9.3 and SPSS software are used for mapping land and analyzing the socio-economic data. In the study area, livestock raising is also of a subsistence nature. It is conclude that based on observation and discussion with the villagers, the (wards 1 and 8) Whandi and Tolka areas are suitable for silvi-pasture, for livestock, buffaloes and sheep/goats keeping should be encouraged. Haijung (ward 4) and Tamijung (ward 2) are suitable for silvi-horticultural system.To sum up, there is a strong linkage between the people and the trees. It includes food and nutrition, energy, off-farm employment, income, medicine, and sustainable agriculture and livestock production. These are especially vital among rural poor.
