Ernst Jünger - Joseph Wulf
0 - Default Title
Description
Among the historians who dealt with the persecution and annihilation of European Jews under the reign of National Socialism, Joseph Wulf occupies a special position as Auschwitz survivor and first chronicler of the Holocaust. In 1962, he first made contact with Ernst Jünger, with whom he exchanged letters and postcards until his death in October 1974. The correspondence, which was supplemented by several meetings in Wilflingen and Berlin, comprises some 150 letters in which both presented their views on the Nazi era, the Holocaust, and its reevaluation. In many cases, their assessments are consistent with each other, but there were also divergences. The correspondence thus becomes an important testimony to the early Federal Republic of Germany's confrontation with the NS past.
