The Manual has three chapters, the first chapter deals with the general aspects of bacteriology and the systematic approach. In this part, the host-bacteria relationship at the scale of populations and individuals, at the cellular and molecular scale is treated as well as the relationship with the immune system, antigenic variation and vaccine design. In the specific part, it is a question of Bacteria responsible for generalized infections, infections of the digestive tract, infections of the urinary tree, sexually transmitted diseases, infections of the respiratory and ENT sphere, meningitis and skin infections. Thus, thirteen pathogenic bacteria are studied belonging to different groups: Staphylococcus, Streptococcus, Enterococcus, Pneumococci, Neisseria meningitidis, Neisseria gonorrhoeae, Vibrio cholerae, Yersinia pestis, Bacillus anthracis, Clostridium botulinum, Clostridium tetani, Clostridium perfringens, Mycobacterium tuberculosis and Mycobacterium leprae. And finally, Methods for diagnosing bacterial infectious diseases are described.
