Why did you choose this topic?In 2016, I read the excellent book by Michel Malherbe Alzheimer \"La vie, la mort, la reconnaissance\", which impacted me greatly. So I decided to do a second Ph.D, this time in philosophy, and exactly on this topic. Also, in 2018, I saw William Utermohlen's paintings, which also inspired me. In 2019, during my PhD, I took classes with Gilvan Fogel at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, whose phenomenological and literary references influenced me.2. What new perspectives does your book offer?This is a philosophical book, which also dialogues with literature, dramaturgy and painting. I don't know of another book on this topic with such an interdisciplinary perspective. In addition, it gives voice to individuals with Alzheimer's to express themselves through their bodies and stories. On this topic, one normally reads the narratives of family, friends and caregivers, which my book also deals with, but one does not listen to the person affected. This is a second new perspective that my book also offers.3. What makes your topic relevant for current research debates?My approach brings contributions to the debates in gerontology, psychiatry, psychology, psychoanalysis, art therapy, bioethics, disability studies, critical studies, critical phenomenology and law. The description of the psycho-organic body with Alzheimer's, as a teller of its own story in parallel with that of its caregivers, can bring contributions related to how it experiences sensations and feelings and is affected by them with the progression of the disease.4. Choose one person you would like to discuss your book with!This question is quite difficult as there are several persons I would like to discuss it with. If Merleau-Ponty were alive, certainly with him. But, if I am to think of some names these days, I would choose the philosopher Michel Malherbe, Emeritus Professor at the University of Nantes, whose book I referred to earlier, whose philosophical essay and account of his experience with his wife Annie's Alzheimer's made me reflect a lot and then follow the path of building my own book.5. Your book summary in one sentence:It is a book about affective experiences of subjects with Alzheimer's and their caregivers based on philosophy, literature, dramaturgy and painting.","brand":"transcript","offers":[{"title":"Default Title","offer_id":53916496363862,"sku":null,"price":0.0,"currency_code":"EUR","in_stock":false}],"thumbnail_url":"\/\/cdn.shopify.com\/s\/files\/1\/0925\/5829\/5382\/files\/product_image_9783837666809_1.jpg?v=1781884187","url":"https:\/\/www.momoxbooks.com\/products\/ana-barbosa-fohrmann-paula-narrating-experiences-of-alzheimer-s-through-the-arts-9783837666809","provider":"momoxbooks","version":"1.0","type":"link"}
