Adam et Eve
0 - Default Title
Description
Just like in the good old days when God created Man and Woman and placed them in a beautiful garden so that they could live happily and multiply. But the fact is, twenty-first-century Chad, especially after a succession of events since 1979, is not the Garden of Eden. Adam, a staunch Muslim, comes from a household headed by a father who is a great scholar of the Holy Quran and originally from the north of the country. Eve, born and raised in a Christian family from the south, is idolized by a father who swears only by the Holy Bible. The stage is thus set for an antinomy, even an inextricable antagonism, between the two families of the lovers. For Adam's father and mother, it is unacceptable that their son, on whom their hope of succession is based, should introduce into their pious family an unbeliever, a "Kirdi." Eve's parents could not imagine for a single moment that their daughter would marry a "Doum", a rude man, quick to draw a knife. An internal struggle between the two lovebirds' families thus begins, amid threats of suicide, proposals for arranged marriages, and fruitless arguments. But against all odds, love triumphs, thanks to the tenacity of the young lovers, who seize every opportunity to lecture their parents. And it was almost a miracle to hear Al-hadj Amine, Adam's father, confronting Eve's father with this final tirade: "My son Adam... all the young women want him to be their husband. But he told me that he will only be happy with your daughter. And if he is, I will be, although many are against this marriage. Our beloved Prophet himself advised us to respect and consider our neighbor, since we are all sons of Adam, the first man on Earth. I believe this is his way of teaching us tolerance and living together."
