There are still fascinating relics of past years in and around Berlin: half-dilapidated factories, swimming pools and hospitals, abandoned airfi elds, closed down power plants, unused military facilities, or deserted villas that look as if they had been left in a hurry by their last residents.
The journalist and photographer Ciarán Fahey has explored the most spectacular of these "lost places", documented their condition in photographs and discovered their tragic tales. His pictures take the viewer into a mysterious and fascinating world somewhere between the past and the future.
