Post Remediation Assessment of trace elements Level in Dareta,Nigeria

Description

Some toxic metals frequently associated with mining include mercury, arsenic, lead and cadmium, zinc, iron and copper. These substances are present at low concentrations in the soil, rock and water, but the process of mining may release quantities that could be harmful to the environment and consequently the health of people.Dust emissions from mine sites due to blasting, crushing, grinding and other mining operations could contain any toxic metal that occur locally.Uncontrolled mining activities and illegal mining in developing countries have left a lot of environmental hazards and enormous amount of wastes leading to different types of pollution. In urban and agricultural areas, soil represent a major sink for metals released in to the environment from a variety of anthropogenic activities, once in soil some of these metals persist because of their immobile nature, others however, will be more mobile, migrating to ground water aquifer or plants.
